OPEN SCIENCE – OPEN ACCESS TO KNOWLEDGE IN PHILOSOPHY, ARCHITECTURE, ARTS & HUMANITIES
Efpalinos Publishing is an independent publishing house in Arts & Humanities, focused primarily on the areas of Philosophy, Philosophy of Art & Aesthetics, Architecture, Visual Culture, Theatre and Dance Studies. With its digital presence and the publication of the magazine, books, journals, data and other (research) products, it aims to inspire and stimulate the thought of its audience, but also to actively engage in Open Science with Open Access (OA) publications and Open Data. Thus the goal is to provide digital scholars with state-of-the-art services, tools and resources for high quality peer-reviewed publications, cutting-edge research and effective research data management.
The Efpalinos Publishing Digital Library contains all [ef] products and consists of the Digital Catalogue, the Media Library and the eBookstore. Besides [ef] products, digital and digitised open and public domain content from external sources is available via the Efpalinos Publishing Repository and its Media Library, through the Image Viewer and the Web Radio & Web TV applications.
Through innovative digital methodologies and open source tools Efpalinos Publishing aims to build a robust, sustainable, technical infrastructure for the creation and management of peer-reviewed OA publications, as well as for archiving Open Research Data. The goal is to develop an OA Enhanced Publication Management System for the scholar communities and small publishers, an Open Data Repository for researchers and scholars to deposit digital research material, and together with the Search Portal to become an international Open Access Hub in Philosophy, Architecture, Arts & Humanities. The open scholarly infrastructure is designed to adhere to international technical standards and follows the Open Science principles and practices with the new way research is conducted, disseminated, managed and transformed by digital tools, networks and media. Therefore, for ensuring the discovery, access, interoperability, reuse and citation of digital research products, the FAIR Data Quality and Data Citation principles are applied.
Efpalinos Publishing and the Open Access Hub are co-financed by Greece and the European Union – European Regional Development Fund and European Social Fund, in the context of the “Competitiveness, Entrepreneurship and Innovation 2014 – 2020” Operational Programme, of the PA (Partnership Agreement for the Development Framework) 2014 – 2020 (ΕΣΠΑ 2014 – 2020), the new NSRF (National Strategic Reference Framework).
